New WSD Campaign Sensationalizes Water Conservation Message Using Familiar Faces

Date:

Basseterre, St. Kitts (MoPIEUDT NEWS) – In a video campaign meant to capitalize on its inherent shock value, the Ministry of Public Infrastructure, Energy, Utilities, and Domestic Transport joined forces with the Police Department and social media personalities Modelcop Shaq and Pinocchio, to focus the public’s attention on the importance of water conservation – a message that the St. Kitts Water Services Department (WSD) has been sending for years.

The new campaign comes at a time when residents of the island have been adjusting to regular water service interruptions that the WSD has imposed in its efforts to conserve its supply.

The narrative passively references the Watercourses and Waterworks Act, which proscribes the wastage of water and provides the authority to impose penalties for breaches.

Plot twists sensationalize the narrative that underscores the importance of water conservation and amplifies our collective responsibility regarding it.

This campaign is the third WSD campaign for 2025. Previously, the WSD implemented a Save It, Don’t Waste It campaign featuring nine water conservation tips distributed on mopieudt.gov.kn, water.gov.kn, and the WSD’s Facebook page. The WSD also collaborated with Modelcop Shaq for a Water Services Edition of In the City.
